The Holistic Housing Lab is a design-centered research platform dedicated to exploring housing as an interconnected system shaped by people and place.

The Holistic Housing Lab’s works across five categories:

1 Research

We study housing through the lived experiences of residents alongside research into place, precedent, policy, and the systems that shape how we live.

2 Design

We develop design studies that translate research and community knowledge into possibilities for housing, neighborhoods, and the places people share.

3 Outreach

We make complex housing ideas visible, tangible, and accessible through exhibitions, installations, and tools that invite people into the conversation.

4 Education

We integrate real-world housing challenges into design studios, connecting students, faculty, communities, and partners through shared questions and focused exploration.

5 Advocacy

We share our research, tools, and methods with professionals and decision-makers to advance more holistic, inclusive, and people-centered approaches to housing.
